ATA - The Assistive Technology Act

The Assistive Technology Act(ATA), is a law designated to help people of all ages and disabilities to help them along the way to live a more fitted and stress-free environment by using the source of technology. These people include senior citizens, toddlers, underdeveloped minds, injured patients and many more people. The goals are to help people to reach their fullest potential in work, school, house-hold, communication, independent life-style, and "achieve their dreams(ATAACESS.ORG)". Along with that, technology has become one of the most sufficient ways to involve economic activity. It also shows to be used just as much if not more for people involved in ATA, then the rest of the nation.
There is a YouTube video on the ATA website at (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2G1U6U3zh8), that demonstrates how this law is presented to a visual audience. For example, this video starts by showing how ATA helps senior citizens. Because as you get older, the weaker and more fragile you become, ATA has invented knew technology to help them with everyday situations and makes them feel more important and acknowledged in the world. ATA supports rubber jar openers, built up handles that are easier to grip, or cell phones with bigger accessible buttons. All of these technology tools make the senior citizen more confident with their old age.
I think that this law is very important to our society. Although i had no previous knowledge of ATA before this assignment, it has really opened up my eyes to different ways technology can twirl its way into just about everything. I strongly like that the main focus of this law is to help these people feel as if they aren't different from anyone else, to make everyone feel equal.
